His first appearance was as teacher intern who came uninvited to kill Hiroshi. Although Nube supposedly killed him to save boy, he wa able to return however his defeat changed him a lot. He found out human emotion called love makes Nube's psychic ability stronger, and now plans to learn it to get more power. In later, he turns into a surgeon to study love.
Appearance[]
Tamamo is usually a man with long hair tied in band, praised as good looking. He is wearing a blackish green suit with a white or green jacket, his hair tie is often removed when he shows his immense power.
In the manga, he has pale blonde hair, golden eyes, and purple band. In anime, Tamamo had silver hair, green eyes, and pink band.
However, it is shown that his current form was a result of using the human skull of Akihiko Nagumo, his real form is a tall, slightly muscular fox's beast man with an green mantle.
Personality[]
Tamamo is a intelligent, pride fox spirit. At the start of the series, seems like a powerful yōkai who manipulates and fights as a means to his own desires.
Tamamo used to think that the human race are "dirty creatures" and hated them, also he did not understand their emotions and cultures. However, he was amazed by Nube's strength and found out that the human instinct to protect the weak, called "love" has tremendous power. And thought he can be stronger if he learns human emotions, especially love, and until then he stops being hostile with Nube, while still seing him as his greatest rival.
After fighting alongside Nūbē and class 5-3 and solving a number of youkai problems, he grew fonder and fonder of the human race, to the extent that he would use "Megido", his most powerful fire-based ability, in order to destroy Zekki, the younger brother of Nūbē's Oni no Te. Tamamo also found himself unable to take Hiroshi's skull even when the opportunity presented himself later on, having learned too much of the human heart. This became a problem for him, as without a suitable skull his mental and physical faculties would eventually erode, leaving him to die as only a shell of his former self.

Abilities[]
Having existed and trained his spiritual powers for centuries, Tamamo has become adept in many spiritual powers and abilities that he holds even without perfecting his "transformation jutsu (人化の術)". He is a master of "illusion jutsu (幻視の術)", able to manipulate anyone to see whatever he portrays as long as there is motion. (even to the extent of creating clones of himself off the display of video game screens) Offensively, he uses a "yōko foxfire jutsu (火輪尾の術)", allowing him to create and control a powerful fire-based attack which he can increase in power and intensity to burn his opponents.
He can also handle certain spiritual abilities like Nube's such as assisting in controlling spiritual energy and even the "youshin jutsu (陽神の術)".
When not using spiritual power, his main weapon is a paw-like neck catcher (首刺又), whose primary function is the extraction of suitable skulls for his "transformation jutsu", but can also be broken apart to surround himself and an opponent within a barrier for more powerful attacks.

He didn't want to help class 5-3 from the big ghost fish, but he went and helped them because Hiroshi said Nube will commit suicide if his students are harmed. After class 5-3 is saved, Nube told him that his power lies from his students trust and appreciation for him.
Jigoku Sensei Nube Neo[]
Tamamo appeared briefly a few days before the final battle began. At night, Nube called Kyōsuke via phone and asks him if he can help him to fight against Daira Setsuki Tentei or not. Kyōsuke answered it with he can't help him, due to the Kyuubi receiving serious injuries and he must take care of him for a moment. Trivia[]
- In the manga liner notes for Volume 2, the author stated that Tamamo was intended to be a direct descendant of the Nine-Tailed Kitsune who was notorious as Tamamo no Mae. However, the fox appeared later in the story and was less than fond of Tamamo, thus leaving the name to be most likely an allusion, perhaps out of respect.
- In the manga, Tamamo's hair color was blonde. In the anime and live-action TV show, however, it's sliver. Thought in the OVAs, Kyōsuke's hair color was changed back to blonde.
- Japanese female fans especially who like yaoi often say Tamamo is "in love" with Nube.
